Dunedin and Coastal Otago
With a population of around 120,000 people, the port City of Dunedin is the South Island's second largest. Famous for being a University city of Scottish heritage, visitors to New Zealand's oldest city are treated to a delightful combination of fine Architecture and cultural riches. There is a strong Scottish flavour to a lot of Dunedin's attributes including the Architecture - and the Weather.
Otago Peninsula

While visiting Dunedin, make sure you don't miss a trip to the picturesque Otago Peninsula. Stretching nearly 20 km from the city, the Peninsula is home to many of New Zealand's most treasured bird and sea life including the Yellow - eyed Penguin, fur Seals and the Royal Albatross. Along with the wild life, there are many beautiful beaches tucked amongst equally impressive cliffs.

Moeraki Boulders & North Otago
About a one-hour drive north of Dunedin is the small
fishing settlement of Moeraki where the famous Moeraki boulders are
situated. Huge, completely round, smooth rocks sit in the beach like
giant bowling balls. These boulders are the largest, most spherical
and densely populated in the world.
Further North, the coastal settlement of Oamaru is also worth a visit - as is the picturesque Waitaki Valley.
