Dunedin and Otago Peninsula Tourist Attractions
A stroll around the inner city is well worth doing. Dunedin has many fine Victorian and Edwardian buildings which are used for various purposes. Also worth a visit is the Railway Station (one of the country's most photographed buildings) which is the starting point for the popular Taieri Gorge Railway experience.
Historic, stately homes like Larnach Castle and Olveston provide the opportunity for you to step back in time and experience Dunedin's Scottish heritage. Other tourist attractions in Dunedin include the University of Otago (New Zealand's oldest university), the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Otago Museum, Botanical gardens & St Clair beach.
The Otago Peninsula is known as the wildlife capital of New Zealand. It is host to the only mainland Royal Albatross Colony in the world, the world's rarest penguin (the Yellow-Eyed Penguin), New Zealand Fur Seals plus a huge variety of other bird and marine life.
Further North up the Otago coast, the amazing Moeraki Boulders are also a must-see.
