Central Otago Attractions
One of the best ways to explore Central Otago's stunning landscape is by biking the Otago Central Rail Trail (formally a railway line called the Otago Central Railway which spans 150km from Middlemarch to Clyde). The 4-day Railtrail runs deep into the heart of Central Otago, New Zealand's only region with a continental climate, offering magical mountain and plain views. The track can be used all year-round at no cost to the public - although donations can be made at several points along the way. Being an old railway line, the gradient is gentle which makes it accessible to most age groups plus for those people that like to take it easy and appreciate the scenery along the way.
