Akaroa Attractions
Akaroa and the greater Banks Peninsula area offers many exciting and memorable tourist attractions for you to choose from. We recommend taking a cruise out on to the Akaroa harbour to view the native Hector's Dolphins and other interesting sea / bird life. There are many scenic walks that begin in Akaroa and take you up into the hills overlooking the picturesque harbour. Walks vary in length from 1 hour to full-day. Of course, if you have several days to spare, consider walking the Banks Peninsula Track.
Other attractions include exploring the more remote Okains Bay and Pigeon Bay by car, hiring a kayak or row boat in Akaroa or walking to the historic Akaroa lighthouse.
